SHELLHAMMER DIRT TRACK prepares to throw the GREEN FLAG on the 2020 season
SHELLHAMMER DIRT TRACK prepares to throw the GREEN FLAG on the 2020 season and celebrate 45 years of “RACING AT ITS BEST”.
The Cordiers have spoken to the appropriate people and developed a plan to be able to host racing again. While there will be a lot of things going on behind the scenes to keep everyone safe as possible, RACING IS CURRENTLY SET TO RESUME SATURDAY, JUNE 13th. The first “wingless” WEDNESDAY will be JUNE 17th.
There will be waivers for all entering the speedway grounds to sign regarding COVID-19 and masks will be needed for all patrons as well. If you do not wear a mask, we will assume you have a medical condition that prohibits you from wearing one and due to HIPAA laws, we will not ask you about your condition.
It is recommended that everyone review the CDC guidelines for personal safety when being out in public. While the excitement is building, caution is still recommended for everyone and as much as race fans are tired of hearing it, social distancing is still important at this time. While many of us have been in our homes during the last few months and are very excited to see our friends and families, please respect their personal space.
Although there has been a lot of work done to the speedway grounds over the winter and spring months, there are so many more projects to complete. Our new concession stand has been built, however, due to the pandemic, our occupancy permit was put on hold and the completion of it was too. For now, the old concession stand will be utilized. We have added bleachers in the pit areas in turns two, and four and a new section in the grandstand area also. LED lights have been installed around the track along with the installation of more traffic lights. Underground wiring is a work in progress as is our new fiber optic sound system. Special thanks to Randy Adams and Mark Weitzel for their hard work and dedication in making Shellhammer Dirt Track a better place.
Many thanks to those who assisted us through this tough time by scheduling private track rental practices. Since we are throwing the green flag on June 13th, ALL scheduled June practices have been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding.
There will be a work party Monday, June 1st starting at 10:00 am to pick rocks from the new clay that was put on the track. (Apparently, this clay is not as clean as it was supposed to be)…Anyone interested in helping can just show up and join in the fun.
June 13th: Go-Karts, Quads, Pa Mini Pro Tractors, Micro Stocks, and Slingshots.
June 17th: 600 Micro Sprints, 270 Micro Sprints, 125 Micro Sprints, Slingshots, and Stage One Modifieds
Our racing season will be extended through OCTOBER. A new revised schedule will be posted soon. The Dave Cordier Sr Memorial will be a two-day event in October...
